Growing up in the barrio of Logan Heights in San Diego, Rene was raised on traditional Mexican Boleros and Rancheras from his mother’s old records.  His first professional musical job was singing with the San Diego Opera in his early 20′s.  He went on to perform on Broadway in George C. Wolfe’s musical “THE WILD PARTY” in 2000 but has recently returned to his roots to record a CD with renowned guitarist Beau Bledsoe.  The CD is set to be released in June 2011 with classics including “Sin Ti” and ”Besame Mucho.”  He also performs a duet, “Somos Novios,” with his wife, actress/singer Sarah Jane Nelson.
